Matt joined the department as a Junior Member in 2008. Since then, he has held the the positions of Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief and President.
Matt was hired as a FF/EMT by the Christiana Fire Company in 2016. In 2023 he was promoted to Lieutenant, and has since been promoted to Captain and assigned as the shift commander for D-Shift. He is also a part-time instructor for the Delaware State Fire School and holds the certifications of Firefighter II, Fire Instructor II, Fire Officer III, Incident Safety Officer, Live Fire Instructor, Rope Rescue Operations, Swift Water Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Operations, Engine Operator, and Aerial Apparatus Operator.
In 2017 Matt was named volunteer of the year in Seaford, and in 2020 recieved the Youth Leadership award from the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association.
