The Seaford Volunteer Fire Dept. was notified that Past Chief WILLIAM E. ‘Pinky’ Higgins passed on February 12, 2012. Chief Higgins joined the SVFD on September 25, 1963, and quickly became a very active member. Pinky was very active in the Sussex County and Delaware fire service, serving as president of the Sussex County Fire chiefs Association and the Delaware State Fire Chiefs Association. Chief Higgins was also employed with the Seaford Police Department, as well as being a role model for many fire fighting families in Seaford. In 1980 Chief Higgins perused his fire fighting career moving to Salisbury, Maryland to the job of Deputy Chief and eventually serving as Chief of the department. The SVFD and many surrounding departments mourn the loss of Chief William Higgins. *********************** Update Information: 2/16/21 Funeral Arrangements For Past Chief William "Pinky" Higgins: At Emmanual Wesleyan Chruch 217 Beaglin Park Drive Salisbury, Maryland. Friday: 19 February Viewing: 1800-2000 Saturday: 20 February: Viewing: 0930-1100 1100-1200: Service 1215 -Procession of family and fire service personnel will travel from Salisbury to Odd Fellows Cemetery in the City of Seaford where Chief Higgins will be laid to rest. This is a Full Firefighter Funeral. Please refer back to this page for any updates.
